Dream by definition

Dream by definition is:

The thoughts, or series of thoughts, or imaginary transactions, which occupy the mind during sleep; a sleeping vision. A visionary scheme; a wild conceit; an idle fancy; a vagary; a revery.

If dreams are all but imaginary transactions, why do they make us feel? How can a dream an idle fancy wake unwanted feelings that were dead or absent? It truly makes me wonder if dreams are a cruel joke that our mind plays with us or maybe its a reminder of what has never died.

Last night i had a dream that i was with my ex my first love, and found out he was cheating with my brothers girlfriend and crushed me to the core of my heart, all those unwanted feeling came back, lose, pain, insecurity and anger. He and I today in real world are friends but i can't help to feel something for him when is quite some time since we parted ways and i thought i had no feelings of any kind left for him but today after a silly dream a visionary scheme of thoughts, a vagary can bring me feeling to light, have they always been there and i have just suppressed them, could it be? Or is it just a temporary feeling, or reminder of a memory.

I wonder at times if our dreams are trying to tell us something we try to hide, or are dreams memory of fears or happy moments

Yesterday i saw the sun falling, and couldn't help but think of him. here i am looking beside my heart and ask him am just lonely? as he pumps blood through my body he responds with a devilish smile yes...

A Dream by Edgar

Allan Poe

In visions of the dark night
I have dreamed of joy departed-
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me broken-hearted.

Ah! what is not a dream by day
To him whose eyes are cast
On things around him with a ray
Turned back upon the past?

That holy dream- that holy dream,
While all the world were chiding,
Hath cheered me as a lovely beam
A lonely spirit guiding.

What though that light, thro' storm and night,
So trembled from afar-
What could there be more purely bright
In Truth's day-star?
